Suspect in custody after Montgomery Co. deputy injured in Magnolia shooting
MAGNOLIA, Texas (KTRK) -- A Montgomery County deputy was injured during a shooting in Magnolia.
Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance report just before 8 p.m. Thursday in the 22000 block of Allyson Road, where the caller claimed the suspect had fired shots at neighbors.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they were fired upon by the suspect, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
One deputy was hit, receiving injuries to his leg, arm and head. Officials believe he was struck by a shotgun loaded with birdshot.
"One of our deputies then retreated from the scene and rendered first aid to the [injured] deputy," Lt. Scott Spencer said. "The deputy is in stable condition. He is okay. He's been transported to a local hospital."
He is expected to fully recover, MCSO said.
After a standoff for several hours, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Crisis Negotiation Team was able to get the suspect to surrender, the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.
The suspect's identity was not immediately released.
