Driver escapes major injury after steering wheel comes off before crash
ABC13's Foti Kallergis reports on a terrifying scenario played out on the South Loop.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A pickup driver got away with only minor injuries after losing control of his vehicle because the steering wheel came off.

The driver crashed into a guardrail on the South 610 Loop near the Crestmont/Mykawa exit late Wednesday night.

Firefighters had to pull the driver from the passenger side after the crash. The male driver was taken to a hospital for observation.
