Homeless honky tonk artist to perform at Gallery Furniture
Mattress Mack has invited Jericho Burley to play for diners at his free Thanksgiving Day feast at Gallery Furniture.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There's no doubt that music heals the soul and no one knows this better than Jericho Burley from Beaumont.

We met him outside Gallery Furniture on Wednesday. He drove into town after he called Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale to ask him if he could play at his Thanksgiving feast.

"He's like, 'Man, yeah, come out.' You know how Mack is. So I drove over here today and checking out the place, he has monkeys and parrots all kinds of stuff," Burley said.

Burley said he wanted to do something nice for Harvey victims because he knows many still don't have a place to call home.

"It's living in a hotel and you're homeless, you don't have a home or place where you can hang your hat," Burley said.

Funny thing is Burley is also a homeless Harvey victim.

"I'm one of those folks too. I'm living in my truck over here. Got everything I own in it," he said.

But instead of feeling sorry for himself, Burley wants to do what he does best, and that's play some honkey tonk music.

"Tomorrow is perfect. I can come play for these people," he said.

Burley knows eventually he will be back on his feet. He's just grateful there's people like Mattress Mack who help others like him along the way.

"That guy is awesome. He didn't have to do anything and he just reached into his pocket and says make it happen, you know," said Burley.

You can follow Jericho Burley on his Facebook page.
