HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- For the first time in 24 years, Garth Brooks will return to RodeoHouston in 2018. He will open AND close the rodeo.
"It's with great humility and great appreciation that we accept this offer to come here and play," Brooks said during a news conference. "You've got a year to prepare. Just make you sure you bring a helmet -- it's going to be loud and fun!"
The internet was abuzz on Thursday afternoon after several cryptic tweets and press releases teased Garth Brook's return to RodeoHouston next year.
In an email to members of the media on Wednesday afternoon, RodeoHouston organizers teased a press conference with a "special announcement" regarding the 2018 show.
Minutes later, Garth Brooks tweeted that he, too, had an announcement to make, and he was on his way to the Bayou City.
Like clockwork, the official RodeoHouston account then posted a photo promising "something great," with extra emphasis on the "G."
According to the organization's website, Brooks last appeared in 1993, two years after his debut 1991 performance.
