With a population of about 3,800 people, the community of Sweeny is buzzing about 28-year-old Eric Lloyd Shelton of Lake Jackson.
Shelton is charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of improper teacher/student relationship. He's also charged with attempting to commit improper relationship between and educator and student.
According to investigators, the girls are students at Sweeny High School.
Court documents say Shelton had sexual contact with one of the victims on three occasions back November 21. They say he then had another improper relationship with a second student about two monts earlier.
Shelton resigned when allegations surfaced in December.
Parents there feel strongly about what should happen next.
"I just think he should be punished. Everybody else, when they do wrong, they get punished. He shouldn't get away with it," parent Kara Hammond said.
"If it's true, I think he needs to be held accountable to the standards everyone else is held accountable to. He's supposed to be a role model," said Jeff Bruce, a concerned resident.
Shelton posted a $100,000 bond and is now out of the Brazoria County Jail.
