UH students approve $50 fee hike for renovations

In the fall, University of Houston students will have to pay $50 more in students fees. It's a change approved by 74 percent of students who voted in this week's referendum, which had a record turn out.

Forty-five dollars of it will go to build a new football stadium, shown in these renderings, and to renovate the Hofheinz Pavilion, which is where the basketball teams play.

The regents have to approve the fee increase before it goes into effect.
