Teen hit by stray bullet during drive-by shooting, HPD says
Eyewitness News was on the scene as the investigation was underway. Here's what we learned.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 17-year-old was hit by a stray bullet during a drive-by shooting in southwest Houston, police say.

It happened on Wednesday around 7:20 p.m. at 6403 McKinstry Blvd. Police said the teen, identified as Andre Gilliam, was shot while he was inside his home and was rushed to the hospital where he remains stable.

Police say they aren't sure if Gilliam was the intended target of the shooting.

The shooter, who police described as a man in a Black vehicle, fled the scene in an unknown direction.

In the last year, Houston has seen a surge in violent crimes and murders.
