Jiovanni Lieggi
Jiovanni Lieggi started reporting for ABC13 in July of 2023.

He has worked as a reporter for several years and has traveled the country covering national stories.

Prior to joining the Eyewitness News team in Houston, he was based in Sacramento, California, as a multimedia reporter for a major cable network. Some of the stories he covered during his time working with the network include the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, the trial of Alex Murdaugh, the trial of Kim Potter, Hurricane Ida, the attack on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul Pelosi, deadly California wildfires including the Caldor and Dixie, multiple mass shootings, border issues, and the 2022 midterm elections.

Previously he worked in Lafayette, Louisiana as a reporter. While in Lafayette, he covered several major hurricanes during the 2020 hurricane season, deadly tornadoes, and the Seacor Power disaster. Prior to working in Lafayette, he worked in his hometown in Youngstown, Ohio.

Jiovanni graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He then got a master's in forensic psychology from Arizona State University. He is currently finishing a law program through Arizona State University with an emphasis in criminal and business law.

In his spare time, Jiovanni enjoys lifting, going to the movies, and everything outdoors. He has a goal to visit every national park in the country before turning 30. He said he's excited to be living back in the south in a place that feels like home.
