First up, Marigolds, they not only look pretty but they have a distinct smell that repels mosquitoes. You can place them in containers near a back patio door, deck or balcony.

Lavender is always a favorite! This plant not only keep mosquitoes away, it is also great at battling gnats from attacking your patio.

Basil is a favorite to plant and it's strong smell can beat mosquito invasions!! Since the fragrance is so strong, you don't have to crush the leaves.

Lemongrass is an herb that has a subtle citrus flavor. To help deter mosquitoes, plant lemongrass along walkways and in locations close to seating areas.
