An important deadline is looming for homeowners who had damage from the winter storm.
You can get an exemption that can save you money on your property taxes, but you have to act soon. May 28 is the deadline.

The state is allowing appraisal districts to grant temporary tax exemptions for homeowners who saw damages that are at least 15% of the home's value.
But you must apply for the exemption through your county's appraisal district by the deadline at the end of the month.
This is what the form looks like if you're in Harris County.
You'll be asked to provide any additional documents, inspections, photos and repair estimates.
The amount of tax relief depends on how much damage you received.
