Massive tree nearly lands on home of Panorama Village mayor

PANORAMA VILLAGE, Texas (KTRK) -- The mayor of a small Houston-area city is lucky to be alive after a massive tree fall hit his home in the midst of Friday's storms.

It happened in Panorama Village just north of Conroe.

Strong storms hit the area Friday afternoon, which prompted power outages. The mayor's wife, Darlene Scott, said they lost power shortly after the tree fell.

"It was like a train," she described. "Then all of a sudden, things were going everywhere. I ran and got my husband, we ran for shelter. Then it was just gone, and it was just one of the scariest things I have ever been through."

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The Scott family said they will now work to assess any damage.
