Your Friday Faves: Houston's Top 10 Places to Grab a Cold One
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Tuesday was National Beer Day, and we asked viewers where their favorite spots were to grab a beer.
Viewers say that everyone is a big extended family at Time Out Tavern in Humble. They say it's the best place on the north side to unwind and have a cold one with some of the best people around.
If you're down in Webster, check out Nobi Public House for craft beer and Vietnamese fusion cuisine. They have dozens of beer on tap and over 100 more in bottles or cans.
There are Flying Saucer locations in downtown Houston and Sugar Land. The neat thing about Flying Saucer is if you think you're a beer connoisseur you can join their UFO Club. Pay $18 and you'll get a BEERKNURD t-shirt and a magenetic card. Swipe that card every time you visit and it will keep track of the amount of beer you drink. After 200 pints, you get yourself into the Ring of Honor.
Moon Tower Inn also made its way onto our list of Houston's Top 10 Hot Dogs, so it only makes sense that they would end up on the beer list too. You have to wash a hot dog down with something, right? Grab a seat at one of the outdoor picnic tables and enjoy a a hot dog and a cold beer!
Republic House in Pasadena says it has the largest beer tap wall in the East Side of Houston. They also have a gastropub menu with lots of Texas-inspired eats.
Craft food and beer are what the Hay Merchant prides itself on. The staff says you'll not only find a great selection of well-chosen beers, but they'll also taste better than they do anywhere else. That's because they try to ensure that beers are always served at the perfect temperature with the correct pressure and gas mix in the appropriate glass.
If you're in the Oak Forest/Garden Oaks neighborhood, you've got to stop by your local watering hole, The Petrol Station. It's a little hard to find, but customers rave about the beer selection and the burgers. You can't go wrong with either one of those!
The popular Twin Peaks girls are pouring beer at five Houston-area locations. Sign up for their email club and you'll get free chips and queso just for joining. Then, on your birthday you'll eat free.
In addition to grabbing a cold one, you can take in a volleyball game or two. There are sand courts out back where leagues meet or if they're open, anyone can play.
