The Texans released veteran safety Danieal Manning on Monday.

The combination of Manning's season-ending knee injury last year and a bloated number between $4 and $5 million due this fall made Manning expendable.

The Texans signed safety Chris Clemons last week.

Manning played 3 seasons for the Texans. The 31-year-old was a key part of the Texans division title run in 2012.
