Man found guilty in connection with 1984 death

GALVESTON, TX

Hedrick, 61, was accused of killing 29-year-old Beason back in 1984. Prosecutors say the two were seen together at the Texas Moon Club in League City just before her disappearance.

The prosecution stated that in testimony for another case, Hedrick claims the two went swimming, Beason drowned and he took her and dumped her, leaving her under a couch. In 1985, Beason was discovered in a road off the Galveston Causeway.

Beason has been exhumed for examination in recent years, and the prosecution claims a deadly injury was revealed that had been overlooked in a previous examination.

The defense claimed this morning "the evidence they brought you is flimsy, and it is not reliable, and in some cases non-existent."

The prosecution asked the jury to consider what is most likely, asking, "Did she drown or did the man who hid her under a couch crush her skull from side to side?"
