Conroe police car catches fire while officer responds to service call; no injuries reported

CONROE, TX

The fire erupted just before 5pm as an officer was dispatched to a service call at an apartment complex on South 7th Street.

The officer turned around and noticed smoke coming from the trunk area and then the 2012 Chevy Caprice went up in flames.

Police believe the fire started in the trunk and go to the flares and that's what sparked the sound of a shooting. Officers were able to quickly put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher.

No one was injured but the officer lost all of the equipment in the car.

The Conroe Police Department and the fire marshal are both investigating the cause.
