Police in Brooklyn are searching for a man who tried to rape a woman inside her apartment building, and they're hoping a surveillance photo will lead to an arrest.

The incident happened just before 2 p.m. Monday in the vicinity of Myrtle Avenue and Tompkins Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section.

Authorities say the suspect grabbed the 22-year-old victim by the neck from behind and made a motion as though he had a gun before pushing her to the stairs in the vestibule.

The suspect then ripped off her shirt and bra and pulled down her pants and underwear down while touching her breasts.

He began to remove his pants, but the victim screamed and the suspect fled on foot with her cell phone and $60.

The victim did not sustain any serious physical injuries as a result of this incident.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, last seen wearing dark clothing and black sneakers and holding gloves in his hand.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
