Chicken Rub
Ingredients:
- 3 tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons sage
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons sugar
Directions:
- Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl.
- Taste your new chicken rub.
- Add something sweet if it tastes too salty. Add more herbs to accent a certain taste, etc.
- Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you like it.
- Rinse and pat dry your chicken.
- If you are cooking chicken with skin still attached, gently loosen the skin and rub some of the rub in between the skin and meat.
- Rub the remaining rub all over the outside of the chicken.
Try these ingredients instead for a Pork Tenderloin Rub
Ingredients:
- 2.5 lbs. boneless pork loin roast
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons coarsely ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 4 1/2 teaspoons onion salt
- 1 tablespoon dry mustard
- 1 1/2 teaspoons crushed red pepper (cayenne)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground red pepper (cayenne)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
