New park planned for explosion-damaged Texas town of West

WEST, TX

Organizers on Tuesday night outlined the proposal during a town hall meeting in West. The park was damaged in last April's fiery accident.

Mayor Tommy Muska says he's open to ideas but officials have to consider park maintenance and sustainability.

The playground would be called "Parker's Park" in honor of 4-year-old Parker Pustejovsky. His father, Joey Pustejovsky, was killed in the explosion. The boy has helped raise money for the park.

The site would include a pavilion, walkways and 15 trees to commemorate those who died. The park's insurance policy covers about $100,000. West officials expect about $600,000 in federal funds.
