Houston-area post offices open Sundays for holiday rush

HOUSTON

With the holiday mail rush expected to reach record volumes this year, select post offices in and around the city are opening their doors to customers on Sundays.

The Houston district manager for the U.S. Postal Service is expecting higher than normal mail volume on Mondays during the busy holiday season. USPS officials said they are looking for mail volume to increase from about one million pieces a day to more than three million on December 16.

The second and final Sunday date for participating locations is December 15. Retail lobby hours at the following locations will be from noon to 4pm:

  • Rich Hill Station: 2950 Unity Dr., Houston, TX 77057-9998
  • Broadway Finance: 4020 Broadway, Houston, TX 77207-9998
  • TX Military Station: 7231 FM 1960 Rd. W. Ste. A, Humble, TX 77338-3468
  • Willow Place Station: 12955 Willow Place Dr. W., Houston, TX 77070-9998
  • Julius Melcher Station: 2802 Timmons Ln., Houston, TX 77027-9998
  • Woodlands Metro: 9450 Pinecroft Dr., The Woodlands, TX 77380-9998
  • Cypress Post Office: 16635 Spring-Cypress Rd., Cypress, TX 77429-99998
  • Conroe Post Office: 809 W. Dallas St., Conroe, TX 77301-9998
  • Katy MPO: 20180 Park Row, Katy, TX 77450-9998
  • College Station MPO: 2130 Harvey Mitchell Pkwy., College Station, TX 77840
  • First Colony Station: 3130 Grant Lake Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479-9998
  • Angleton Post Office: 100 Cannan, Angleton, TX 77515-9998
  • Kingwood Post Office: 1202 Feather Lakes Dr., Kingwood, TX 77338-9998
  • Webster Post Office: 17077 Texas Ave., Webster, TX 77598-9998

The Galleria Finance Station located at 5015 Westheimer Rd. Ste. 1200 will have special extended hours 12-6pm.

Revised hours are posted at each post office, and commercial customers are asked to check with their business mail entry units for specific information regarding holiday hours of operation.

Post offices will be closed December 25 and January 1. Only Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. All post offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume December 26 and January 2.

If you're shipping gifts with the post office that need to arrive by December 25, you need to be aware of a couple deadlines: First Class mail December 20; Priority mail, December 21; Priority Express mail December 23.
