Wintry weather hits north of Houston

HOUSTON

A few ice pellets and big fluffy snowflakes mixed in with the rain across Walker, Montgomery, Grimes, Brazos and Harris counties. Although the wintry mix was enough to get people excited, it was not enough to cause travel problems in the area. Temperatures were well above freezing which kept the roads wet, not icy.

Temperatures tonight will drop to the freezing mark in many places from Houston northward, and with all the moisture on the ground from the recent rains, a heavy frost is likely by sunrise Wednesday.

Even colder temperatures are expected Thanksgiving morning before the atmosphere starts to warm up this weekend.
