It happened around 2:30am on Sam Houston Parkway at Bissonnet.
Police said a Chevrolet Impala was southbound on the tollway when it crashed into the passenger side of a Dodge Avenger. The Dodge driver became trapped and had to be rescued.
Police are investigating which driver ran a red light. Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
