It starts with the total closure of the Katy Freeway at the Grand Parkway all weekend. It shut down in both directions starting at 9pm Friday and is scheduled to reopen Monday at 5am.
The closure is part of the ongoing construction there. Crews will be installing beams for the connector between the Grand Parkway and Westbound I-10. You will be moved off the freeway to the frontage roads so be prepared for delays. Or you may want to find a different route and avoid it completely.
The Washburn Tunnel will be closed for cleaning and maintenance starting tonight at 10. It will stay closed until Sunday morning around 10.
Drivers are being encouraged to take the East Loop Parkway or the Fred Hartman Bridge to cross the ship channel.
