We have new information in a deadly fire in Galveston last Friday. Investigators have confirmed the cause was a lit cigarette.

The fire broke out in the early morning, sending residents scrambling for the only exit. Only one tenant did not make it out alive and investigators believe it was his unit where the fire started.

The concrete apartment dates back to 1902 and was able to contain the damage. Right now, the city is working with the property owner to move residents back into the building.
