Car bomb kills 40 in Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan

The attack took place Sunday on a crowded street in Peshawar's (puh-SHAH'-wuhrz) oldest bazaar. The bomb exploded near a mosque and a police station, damaging the house of worship and nearby shops and engulfing vehicles in flames.

It was the third blast to hit the city in a week.

Last Sunday, two suicide bombers blew themselves up in a crowd of worshippers at a church, killing 85 people. Yesterday, 19 people were killed when a bomb exploded on a bus carrying government employees.
