Coast Guard personnel on Sunday afternoon rescued the man swept from the boat and a friend who grabbed life vests for himself and his buddy -- then jumped in the water.
Petty Officer 1st Class David Sassner says the fishing boat operator tried to maneuver the vessel but broke his key in the ignition and stalled the engine.
A good Samaritan notified the Coast Guard, which responded by boat. Sassner says the two men were pulled from the water and the fishing boat was towed.
Nobody was hurt.
