The U.S. attorney's office for the eastern district of Texas said Monday that 57-year-old Stephen Anderson Sipes Jr., of Shreveport, was also sentenced Monday to serve 48 hours of community service as a condition of a two-year probated sentence for federal wildlife violations.
Sipes pleaded guilty in June to negligent transportation of wildlife.
The U.S. attorney's office says Sipes in 2010 transported 14 imported whitetail deer from Carthage, Missouri, to a ranch in Sanderson, which is prohibited by Texas law.
Sipes must pay the restitution to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.
