HazMat team called to chemical leak, fire in northeast Houston

HazMat crews had to be called when strange orange smoke started coming from a tractor trailer in northeast Houston.

Workers at the Averitt express yard on JFK Boulevard near FM 525 saw the smoke and called 911. Firefighters arrived and found flames inside that trailer. It's believed a hazardous chemical spilled inside, causing it to erupt in flames.

No one was hurt. HazMat teams stayed on scene for several hours to make sure it didn't erupt into flames again.
