Bodies found after swimmers were swept away

GALVESTON, TX

Galveston Beach Patrol was called to the beach along San Luis Pass Road at about 7:30am, when two bodies were found. The bodies have been confirmed as those of Raul Stothart, 49, and his 10-year-old son Chandler Stothart who were swept away by rip currents on Sunday. Their family members have been notified.

The bodies were found a few hundred yards from each other. The beach patrol had a boat in the water actively searching for the father and son as late as Monday night, but officials had been unable to locate the victims. Davis says the bodies appear to have come ashore overnight.

Officials say that a body washed ashore on the Brazoria County Beach shoreline at about 8am Monday. It was found two to three miles north of public beach access #6. The body is that of a white male and fits the general description of a man missing from the Galvestion side of San Luis Pass. Chris Jackson, 19, vanished while swimming with friends Friday at about 8:30pm. The Coast Guard had been unable to locate Jackson after 22 hours of searching.

The victim has been taken to the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. Jackson's family has been contacted and told that the identifcation is pending. Galvestion County has been notifed of the recovery.
