Sheryl Crow and Martina McBride will play the Southwest Airlines Freedom Over Texas with Entertainment Presented by NRG at Houston's official Independence Day event. The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, July 4, 2013, from 4pm - 10pm at Eleanor Tinsley Park, Sam Houston Park, and along Allen Parkway.
Throughout the day there will also be local music from a variety of Houston's best known bands and a few surprise national acts at the main Freedom Stage. The Bud Light Zone will showcase the All American Beer Garden and offer a prime view of the ninth annual Bud Light Texas Volleyball Championship Series Finals.
More than 30,000 square feet of free educational and entertainment programming will be available for children of all ages in the Walmart All-American Kids Zone. Southwest Airlines will host the Southwest Airlines VIP Hangar and the Sky Stage featuring vintage aircraft from the Lonestar Flight Museum that will make fly-overs throughout the festival.
In the Family Fitness Challenge Area, activities will be provided by all five of Houston's hometown professional sports teams including the Aeros, Astros, Dynamo, Rockets and Texans.
Tickets are $8 per person, while children 5 and under are free. Food and beverages are available for purchase by cash, with ATMs available on site.
