Houston City Hall, other buildings to light up blue for World Autism Awareness Day

HOUSTON

Houston City Hall, the JP Morgan Chase Tower, Brenner's on the Bayou restaurant, the Asperger Women's Association and others will join the global initiative to help raise awareness and shine a bright light on a growing public health crisis, according to the organization Autism Speaks.

These local sites will join a list of nearly 3,000 iconic structures, buildings and landmarks across all seven continents that will turn blue today, including the Empire State Building in New York City, Niagara Falls in Canada, Christ the Redeemer Statue in Brazil, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, and the International Space Station.

People are encouraged to wear blue today and can upload their photos to LightItUpBlue.org. The campaign is run by Autism Speaks, an autism science and advocacy organization.
