The Houston Texans and Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo say the Astrodome can be torn down and replaced with a parking lot for $29 million. But Judge Emmett says there has been no mention of who would pay for this plan or any of the other suggestions for the dome.
"What's the revenue stream that's gonna support whatever the idea is? And that's always gonna be the question and that's what commissioners court is gonna have to decide," he said.
Judge Emmett says whatever plan for the Astrodome is decided upon, if it involves using taxpayer dollars, there will have to be a referendum put to the voters.
