Foundation done on Lady Bird Lake boardwalk

AUSTIN, TX

The Austin American-Statesman reported Sunday that the concrete columns can now be seen sticking out of the water. Project manager David Taylor says those columns are for the section of boardwalk known as the waterfront promenade.

Crews are working on building the steel structure between some of the columns as part of the nearly $22 million project. Concrete decks, handrails and lighting will complete the walkway.

The hike-and-bike path around the lake has a 1.2-mile gap that the boardwalk is meant to complete.

The project started in October and should be finished by spring 2014.
