Two injured in explosion at oil storage facility in Van Zandt Co.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, TX

The Van Zandt County Fire Marshal along with multiple fire departments were the scene of an explosion and fire at a oil storage facility on State Highway 110 north of Van, Texas.

The county's fire marshal says a 24-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were smoking on the top of storage tanks, when one of those tanks exploded, igniting several otherss.

They have been transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. The woman is on life support and the man suffered burns to his face, chest and arms. Investigators have not yet said what caused the explosion.

The Fire Marshal is working to identify which company owns the storage facility.
