It happened around 5:20am in the 10400 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a 2006 Dodge Caravan was north on Veterans Memorial in the inside lane. Deputies said the driver failed to control his speed and struck a 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck in front of him.
The impact from the collision forced the F-150 off the roadway and onto the northbound shoulder where a pedestrian was walking in the same direction.
Officials said the truck hit the pedestrian. That person, whose identity has not been released, died at the scene.
The case remains under investigation.
