It was tough to tell who was having more fun Tuesday -- the children who got to pick out their own Christmas gifts or the Texans rookies who got to help them shop.
It's quickly become one of the great team traditions. First-year Texans players led the way at Academy. Thirty members of the Houston Boys and Girls Clubs didn't waste any time.
The runaway winner for most popular stop -- the shoe section. Trying them on for size was the easy part. Actually picking the perfect pair was tough. But everybody had a great time sharing the spirit of giving.
"It's really heartwarming to come back and give back to the community," said Texans rookie Brandon Brooks. "You know, especially when it comes to kids, you want to do anything. You can kind of see it in their faces. They're really happy to be given things. At the same time, we're happy to be here, to do whatever it takes for the kids. You know, it feels good.
You can tell it really means a lot to them. And just seeing the smiles on their faces, you know it warms my heart. I'm sure it warms the hearts of my teammates."
After this, it's back to work for the rookies and the rest of the Texans as they prepare for Adrian Peterson and the Vikings Sunday.
