Randall's employee stabbed in parking lot in Midtown

HOUSTON

That 20-year-old Randall's worker was stabbed several times in the back and was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

The stabbing happened around 3am at the Randall's on Louisiana and Hadley. Police tell us several Randall's employees had walked out to the parking lot to tell the suspect, who appeared to be homeless, to leave. The employees told police the man had been camped out in front of the store for some time.

After the workers approached the suspect, that suspect reportedly pulled out a knife and went after the worker.

"We believe that a suspect approached the employee's vehicle and when the employee noticed the suspect around his vehicle, he asked him to leave. At that point, for some unknown reason he stabbed the employee," said Sgt. Adrian Conejo with the Houston Police Department.

Police tell us after the stabbing, the suspect took off on foot. He was caught and arrested a few blocks away.

There is no word on what charges he is facing at this time.

We're told the employee is expected to be OK.
