Neighborhood problem of dumped junk resolved

HOUSTON

An old brown sofa had been near the side of the road for nearly six months and neighbors in Oak Forest say they've been complaining about the mess for weeks now without much action. Just one day after Eyewitness News paid them a visit, the old TV set, broken furniture, mangled mattresses and other illegally dumped junk is gone, leaving the sidewalks free and clear.

The heavy stuff was being dumped outside a small strip center on Rosslyn which neighbors say has been empty for several years. After Demond Fernandez contacted the city of Houston's Department of Neighborhoods, the division supervisor promised to send a crew out to clean up the trash. It appears that has been done.
