Pedestrian killed on dimly lit Houston roadway

HOUSTON

Houston police were called to the 12000 block of South Main around 2:15am. They found a 25-year-old man dead in the southbound lane.

According to investigators, the victim was apparently walking or standing in the southbound lane when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver fled the scene.

The driver of a second vehicle struck the victim in the roadway a short time later. Police said the road was dimly lit, so that driver stopped and went back to see what he had hit. That's when he found the body and called police, officials said. He will not face charges.

Anyone with information on the first vehicle or its driver is urged to call HPD at 713-247-4065 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
