Local janitors have reached a tentative labor deal to end a month-long strike.

They've been holding a series of protests demanding higher wages and benefits. The service employees union , International Local One, says the deal raises wages by 12 percent over four years. Janitors will go from $8.35 to $9.35 an hour.

The union says contractors initially offered a 50 cent raise over five years. The agreement has been reached with six of seven contractors.

Negotiations with one of those contractors, Pritchard, continue today.
