Witnesses say they saw the man being beaten by another man on Telephone Road near Park Place. The suspect took off when the witness honked a car horn.
The man was dead when police arrived at the scene.
Investigators say they are unsure if the attack stemmed from an argument that got out of hand or from a random robbery.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
