El Paso Police say 27-year-old Antonio Lopez was arrested Wednesday on a capital murder charge.
Police say 11-month-old Jayla Beckley was transported to an El Paso hospital on Saturday for treatment of breathing problems. The girl later died. Further details were not immediately released on who sought help for the baby.
An autopsy done Tuesday determined the youngster had blunt force trauma to her chest and abdomen. Police allege Lopez cause the injuries.
Jail records did not list an attorney for Lopez, who was being held without bond.
