Court documents state the 73-year-old victim was waiting for a bus in the 3800 block of Lyons on June 26 when Tyrone Lee Brown sat down next to her and began talking to her. She says Brown asked her several times for money to buy beer, but she told him she only had money to buy cat food.
The woman told investigators that after the bus did not arrive, she then got up to go back to her apartment when Brown punched her in the back of her head, knocking her to the ground. She says he then grabbed her purse and fled.
Investigators say the woman knew Brown and that he lived in her apartment complex. They also say Brown's mother told them she had heard the Brown had robbed the woman.
Brown, 40, is charged with aggravated robbery. Court records show Brown was convicted of aggravated robbery both in 1991 and 2000.
He is not in custody and police are looking for him.
