The accident happened early Monday in San Antonio. The worker was part of the crew at the U.S. 281 and Loop 1604.
Investigators say the man apparently was putting corrugated metal into the bridge frame when he fell. Authorities believe the worker had a safety harness but it might not have been attached to a secure location.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
Nearby traffic was diverted following the accident.
