The incident happened shortly before 4pm at a home in the 11000 block of Elizabeth Ridge. Deputies say a mother discovered her 15-month-old daughter floating face-down in a ditch filled with about 18 inches of water.
The mother called 9-1-1 and initiated CPR on the child until emergency personnel arrived. The baby was taken to Conroe Regional Emergency Room, where a heart rate was detected, but then flown to Texas Children's Hospital.
It wasn't immediately known how the child managed to get into the ditch.
The victim's name is not being released at this time pending the notification of other family members.
