R. Allen Stanford is requesting a new trial because reporters were Tweeting in the courtroom during his trial. He also says he did not have enough time to prepare his defense.

Stanford was convicted on 13 of 14 fraud counts earlier this month. Prosecutors say he ran a $7 billion ponzi scheme. The courts froze his assets and the state paid for his defense.

After several changes of counsel, the lawyers who defended him at trial received the case in 2010.
