Motorcyclist found dead in bayou after wreck

HOUSTON

Police say it appears a motorcycle rider was traveling east on Memorial Drive at a very high rate of speed when he lost control. The motorcycle flew over the curb, hitting the ground once before striking a tree. The vehicle broke into pieces, with some continuing airborne into the bayou.

A boat crew cleaning the bayou discovered the victim in the water around the 2400 block of Memorial Drive near Sawyer at about 10am. It is believed the accident occurred sometime shortly after the victim left his home around midnight.

The 31-year-old victim's identity has not been released.
