Anthony Miranda, 24, has two black eyes and other facial bruises as a result of the ordeal.
Police say he pulled a gun on a motorist Friday night. During a scuffle, Miranda accidentally shot himself in the ankle and got roughed up by his would-be victim.
Miranda is charged with armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
