Their Christmas price guarantee program starts November 1 and ends Christmas Day. Basically, if you buy an item at Walmart and find it cheaper at Walmart or any of their competitors during this time frame, they will pay you the difference with a Walmart gift card.
When it comes to shopping on a tight budget, retiree Janette Prendki is an expert.
She said, "I shop every ad I can find. What I like about Walmart, you bring in any ad and they will honor it."
Mother of two Amanda Nelson also keeps up with the prices.
"I want to get my kids the most that I can for the money that I have," she said. "So that's why I look around before I purchase anything."
So when both women heard about the new Walmart Christmas price guarantee, they immediately felt a sense of loyalty to Walmart.
"That's great, absolutely fantastic," Prendki said.
Nelson agreed, "It will work for me. If I find something somewhere else for a cheaper price or if I find something here for a cheaper price later on, it will work out."
The Christmas price guarantee works like this. If a customer buys an eligible product at Walmart anytime between November 1 and December 25 and then finds that same product advertised for less at another store, Walmart will give the customer a gift card for the difference through Christmas Day.
Walmart store manager Alberto Mondragon said, "We just want to get an early start, make sure the customers know the items are available now, that we are trying to alleviate that rush, some of that traffic towards the very end ."
Eligible items include toys, bicycles, and most electronics like cameras, TVs and computers. Basically, everyday low price items are included. The offer does exclude Black Friday ads, offers with gift cards, limited time or limited quantity offers and Internet pricing. Halloween and fall decor items are also excluded.
At Best Buy, their price match policy has not changed. If you find a lower price on the same brand and model after your purchase, Best Buy will price match. However, the exchange and return period is 14 days for cell phones, computers and cameras and 30 days for most everything else like TVs.
At Target, they will also price match if you find a better price after your purchase, you have seven days to bring your Target receipt and the competitor's ad to get reimbursed.
At the big box retailers we compared, Walmart had the best price match guarantee. A handful of retailers will price match within a 7 to 30 day period.
