Drought closes state forest near Conroe

The drought has forced the temporary closure of part of a local state forest.

The William Goodrich Jones State Forest, located south of F.M. 1488 near Conroe and The Woodlands, is closed until further notice.

Officials say hundreds of dead trees will have to be removed from the forest area and around the trails, and removing the trees is dangerous.

There is no word yet on when the forest will be re-opened.
