Texans sign Demps to replace injured Manning

With Texans safety Danieal Manning out for at least four weeks, the Texans needed to find some depth in the secondary.

To that end, on Tuesday, they signed veteran safety Quentin Demps to compete with Shilo Keo and Brandon Harris for some playing time behind new starter Troy Nolan.

The Texans are not going to put Manning on injured reserve since there's a good chance he could be back before the season ends, so they needed to make a roster spot for Demps. They did that by waiving return man Trindan Holliday on Tuesday.

If Holliday clears waivers, he could be eligible to resign with the practice squad.
